“The guys at Propel Studio are incredible. They have gone way above the call of duty on my project. The city really threw them for a loop because of some recent changes to the “historic code” in my neighborhood. Propel jumped over every hoop to make my project happen without giving up on my vision for the kind of design I was looking for. Unfortunately my design taste and the Irvington Historic Committed design language are very different. Frankly, Nick has done a lot more work then I think either of us expected but they have only been honorable and fair. They have never created unexpected extra charges. I think they also came up with a very creative design that I am very proud of.
As you know… I live a crazy life filled with travel and business stuff. I haven’t been able to make this project a priority because of all the stuff I am trying to juggle. Nick and Lucas have been so patient with me. There have been a couple times when I owed them responses that could have made them very frustrated with me. But they have treated me with grace and trust. They are always standing by when I randomly call them to take the next step. Then they jump on the open windows of my availability.
Now that we have gotten past all the crazy antics of Portland’s schizophrenic design evaluation process we are about to take the next step (which is actually building something). I will keep you in the loop as we go through this process… but I only expect the same level of great service through that process. I keep telling my wife (if they didn’t own their own firm) I think she should go after them to work for Nike. She is in charge of hiring their new Nike campus architectural design team.
I couldn’t speak more highly of their work ethic, creativity, talent and general awesomeness. I hope you get to work with them!”

“I hired Propel Studio to design and oversee the installation of additional seating for our restaurant via the Street Seats Program in Portland. From our first meeting on, Nick Mira and Lucas Gray were both relentless in their efforts to make this project a great success. Through their clear and prompt communication, the project always progressed with great ease. In our first meeting I gave them some simple, rudimentary ideas of the aesthetics I had in mind for the seating area, and when they returned a week later with their design, I instantly knew I hired the right guys for the job. Their design was creative, modern, and better than I could have imagined. I highly recommend Propel Studio for any of your design needs. Their professionalism and overall vision throughout the project was a key factor in our seating area being approved by the city. I hold their establishment with the highest regard and I look forward to working with them in the future as well.”

“I told Lucas and Sam that I was fantasizing about living and working in a small, efficient, modern, close-to-nature Tree House Studio. Together they developed a beautiful, functional design for me.
I had hoped to build on my family’s property in the SW hills of Portland. It was steep. There was some running water down the middle of the property. The neighborhood association had a lot of. . . well “rules.” Would it be possible? I was so thankful to have Lucas and Sam as guides through the whole process – beginning with the navigation of a whole lot of city rules, neighborhood rules, tree rules, rules about whether the ADU could be detached or must be attached to the big house, about roof lines, and so many other technical matters.
As those things became settled, we got to the fun part. The design! Lucas and Sam made a great team, complementing each other’s strengths in understanding materials, function, and cost, as well as listening to my desires, communicating about aesthetic taste, trading photos to talk about style, selecting materials and so many other details.
I appreciated their patience in explaining each step in the process to me, and answering what I’m sure were a lot of naïve questions on my part. With every bump in the road with the external “powers that be,” costs, and finding available contractors, Lucas and Sam remained clear-headed, persistent, and professionally developed new options to choose from. They’ve been great to work with as artists, as technicians, as resources, as problem-solvers, and as people who genuinely cared about finding the right outcome for me.”
