Living Cully – Sugar Shack Master Plan

Collaboration raised awareness of a much needed community center, along with many other place making elements.

Together with Hacienda, Verde, Living Cully and tremendous community support, the Sugar Shack strip club was purchased with the goal of converting it into a community center for the surrounding neighborhood. We assisted with the project by developing an Architectural Master Plan and early concept renderings to raise awareness of the development as well as submit for grants to help fund the endeavor. We participated in workshops to help conceive of the direction of the project and collaborated with Caitilin Pope-Daum, a landscape architect, to design the vision for what the community center could look like through adaptive reuse. The goal was to increase pedestrian safety along NE Killingsworth, provide space for small local businesses, implement sustainable systems and create a beautiful development for the surrounding neighborhood.
